Aladdin: The Loughborough Town Hall Pantomime

ALADDIN PANTOMIME: We took ourselves along to Loughborough Town Hall today for their pantomime. It was Bam Bam’s first pantomime snd her first time in theatre seats. Anything could have happened really. I did not know what to expect! We were there with lots of other excited families for the Saturday matinee performance.

The auditorium was packed and many kids were waving light toys that had been bought for them at the shop. From the moment the curtain went up, Bam Bam was really engaged by the whole thing. From the colourful, sparkling and detailed sets, to the relatively short scenes, to the engaging actors, everything helped to keep her attention at 18 months as much as the older children. Not that you’d tell from my photos, because she looks reet miserable.

The cast was impeccable. There was all the audience participation you could possibly want, a few laugh-out-loud moments for the adults and plenty of bangs, bells and whistles to keep the kids entertained. The staging really caught Bam Bam’s eye, with Aladdin’s magic carpet ride, in particular, keeping her absolutely transfixed in genuine wonder. She loved Marmaduke the Monkey too. The whole experience was sprinkled with a little magic for her.

By the end, the whole audience was clapping and singing along, regardless of age. This was a thoroughly enjoyable and beautifully presented show. Good clean family fun in every sense and it really helped to get us in the festive mood. The show is on until early January but don’t hang around when it comes to getting tickets as I’m sure this panto will be extremely popular as word gets around!

Our tickets were gifted but my write up is an honest reflection of my experience.
