#LeicesterLockdown: Home Delivery

So the rest of the country has been thanking its lucky stars today for being able to visit the pub for the first time since March (whether or not they actually went in the end) while here in Leicester we remain in lockdown. This means that delivery food and booze are pretty much the most important, and most exciting commodities.

Today’s takeout was from perennial favourites, James’ Cafe Bistro. They celebrated their 9th birthday just the other weekend. I have been writing about them since 2016, because they were the first restaurant I ever reviewed for the Leicester Mercury. Remember when I used to do restaurant reviews for the paper? When they had budgets. Anyway, James’ is your one stop shop for all things comfort food.

TGonight we went for spicy chicken quesadillas, which are generously loaded with cheese and roasted vegetables, making each one more than a meal. However, this didn’t stop us from enjoying a portion of mac and cheese with chorizo on the side too. A very indulgent, American style of side. But this is the Leicester lockdown. We can do what we like!

Also available you can get the fattest twice cooked chips (have them loaded with cheese and bacon), a range of burgers, creamy risotto, the best American pancakes in town – and most of this comes in a plant based version for vegans. Also if you are trying to be a little healthier, try the salads and fresh smoothies – they are seriously lush!

We also have two slices of Jim’s legendary cheesecake because somehow we managed to exert some self control and I am going to be so grateful to myself tomorrow for that. It is peanut butter and chocolate truffle, but they also do chocolate orange or Biscoff and white chocolate… Keep an eye on their Facebook for current menus. You can collect, get delivery or order Deliveroo.

Where did your Saturday night takeaway come from tonight?
