Mutant Roots!

The total parsnip harvest for 2011

All this messing around in the garden has made me inclined to make a roast dinner today with some of our root vegetables.

It’s been a funny time for the roots, most of them being stunted in pots for some time until they could be put out into the raised beds very late in the season.

Crazy swedes!

The swedes had their leaves decimated over the summer by one of my arch nemesisesese, the cabbage white butterfly caterpillar.

So I wasn’t expecting miracles. I also wasn’t expecting the catalogue of freaks that I have just pulled out of the garden. Mutant roast dinner anyone?

Quite proud of this one!
